Dr. Suresh Lohano Memorial Garden

Honoring a Legacy of Compassion and Care

Located near the Same Day Surgery entrance at Daviess Community Hospital’s main campus in Washington, Indiana, the Dr. Suresh Lohano Memorial Garden stands as a lasting tribute to a man whose life was defined by selfless service, expert care, and unwavering compassion. This peaceful space invites patients, visitors, and staff to pause, reflect, and remember a physician who made an indelible mark on our hospital and community.

The garden was formally dedicated on June 11, 2025, less than a year after Dr. Lohano’s tragic passing on July 10, 2024, in a car accident that deeply shook our community. His absence is still felt by all who knew and worked alongside him, but his legacy continues to guide and inspire.

Made possible by a generous $40,000 grant from the Community Foundation through the TrueScripts Foundation Fund, the garden features a commemorative plaque, picnic table, paved courtyard, and beautiful landscaping. It is a place for connection, comfort, and quiet remembrance—open to everyone, always.

Dr. Lohano’s belief in the power of compassionate care helped shape the culture of Daviess Community Hospital and left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In the words of Kavita Lohano, who spoke on behalf of the family at the dedication:

“Dr. Lohano dedicated over 22 years of his life to serve this hospital and community with unmatched passion and compassion. He wasn’t just a physician—he was a healer, a mentor, and a humble servant. We are so grateful for this beautiful tribute and to everyone who continues to keep his memory alive.”

Dr. Lohano once said, “Medicine is my religion, not my profession.” His belief in the healing power of care touched every corner of our hospital. The Dr. Suresh Lohano Memorial Garden is a place where that spirit lives on.

We invite you to visit, reflect, and honor the memory of a man who gave so much—and whose legacy of compassion will never be forgotten.
